The 1st Calamay Festival official jingle is entitled “Calamay sa Jagna. Dali Na, Palit Na, Kaon Na” composed by Mrs. Teresa Gina Ranan, arranged by Mr. James Cyril Tadena and performed by Anne Bethany Basilio. The entry won the nod of the judges headed by no other than Mr. Marianito Jose Luspo, director of Cultural Affairs of Holy Name University with two other judges Mr. Samuel C. Octubre and known Jagnaanon composer and musician and Mr. Catalino B. Berro, Jagna’s Tourism Officer. The judging was done at the Capt. Goyo Hall on April 24, 2015.
Seven entries were submitted. All entries were submitted by Jagnaanon composers and musicians. Entry number 1 words and music by Mr. Winefredo Bertumen and interpreted by Mr. Socrates Bajamonde entitled “Calamay sa Jagna”; entry number 2 composer, arranger and interpreter is Mr. Raymond S. Cruel with a title “Paboritong Calamay”; entry number 3 was composed by Mrs. Luz L. Ranara, arranged and interpreted by Mr. Raymond S. Cruel entitiled “Lamiang Calamay”; entry number 4 is titled “Calamay Nailhan Na Sa Tanan” with lyrics/music by Mr. Adhz Dags, arranged by Mr. Bogex Luna and interpreted by Mr. Ramel Aceron. “Calamay, Perte G’yong Lamia” is entry number 5 composed, arranged and interpreted by Mr. Bogex Luna. Entry number 6 is “Calamay sa Jagna Hastang Lamia” composed by Silmarjonito Daguplo, arranged by Silmarjonito Daguplo and Bogex Luna and interpreted by Bogex Luna. Entry number 7 is titled “Calamay Sa Jagna. Dali Na, Palit Na and Kaon Na” was composed by Mrs. Teresa Gina Ranan with musical arrangement by Mr. James Cyril Tadena and performed by Anne Bethany Basilio.
To add a festive mood to the 1st Calamay Festival, the working committee conducted the Calamay Jingle Contest. The 1st Calamay Festival on April 28-30, 2015 is a celebration to showcase the world-renowned product of Jagna, the calamay. To protect this century-old tradition and expand the livelihood of the calamay makers, the Calamay Festival was conceptualized. This Calamay Festival will inform locally and internationally that the calamay of Jagna is the original. Jagna is calamay and calamay is Jagna.
