Seventeen courageous individuals all coming from Jagna unmindful of their physical disabilities completed a 5-day training
on T-Shirt Printing at the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) Jagna.
Awarding Ceremonies was done on February 22 after the 5-day Livelihood Training on T-Shirt Printing done at the TESDA Office in Jagna.
In his speech, Mr. Dennis T. Putong, instructor, praised the energy and enthusiasm to learn of his seventeen trainees. He added that hand in hand with teaching these individuals the basic techniques in t-shirt printing he was also learning. He said that the PWDs taught him that in spite of physical disabilities, when one has the will there is always a way. In the 5-day training and no one trainee has been absent, he saw the determination to go through with something they see will provide them the take off point towards financial independence.
Mr. Howard Sedavia, president of the PWD association of the town thanked Mr. Putong; the DOLE represented by PESO Manager Mr. Nestor Arban; the LGU; TESDA who made it possible for them to acquire the needed training.
The livelihood training for the Jagna Association of Differently-Abled Persons was possible thru the DOLE-TULAY Project in coordination with TESDA, LGU Jagna and BFDI.
Mr. Nestor Arban encouraged the PWDs to make use of their learning. He said that the Local Government Unit headed by Mayor Fortunato Abrenilla in coordination with the Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office is supporting all activities towards the betterment of the Jagna PWDs in providing them with income generating activities.
Mr. Germinio Vallente, the local chief executive’s representative challenged the PWDs saying that persons with disabilities can also contribute significantly to the community.
The national government is creating programs for the PWDs. Technical and financial assistance are extended to provide them the capacity to join the mainstream society in seeking employment that will provide for their daily needs. They are also encouraged to venture into entrepreneurship that will make them financially independent by providing them livelihood training programs.
During the ceremony, Mr. Nestor Arban turned over to the Association thru Mr. Howard Sedavia the training materials to kick off their t-shirt printing business.
A training on basic computer skills to be provided by TESDA will follow after arrangements will be made to enhance the capacities of the PWDs in computer design.
