Disaster Management orientation conducted to PBs and treasurers

Conducted to Punong Barangays and treasurers.

Thirty-three punong barangays and thirty-three barangay treasurers were oriented on Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (DRRM) on October 10 and 11 held at the Capt. Gregorio “Goyo” Casenas Hall. The orientation was followed with a workshop on Participatory Capacity and Vulnerability Assessment (PCVA).

Organized by the Local Government Unit thru the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office in coordination with the Bohol Integrated Development Foundation (BIDEF), Inc., the 2-day seminar centered on the concepts, approaches, principles and processes of the DRR and understanding hazards.

Mr. Antonio Balang, GIFT Project resource speaker facilitated the two-day discussion. The main topics were Basic Concept of Disaster Risk Reduction Management; Salient Features of Hyogo Framework and RA 10121 (Philippine Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Act of 2010); Understanding Hazards: Geological, Meteorological and other hazards; Film Showing on Good Practices on DRRM in the Philippines and Good Practices on DRR and Climate Change Adaptation in the Philippines; Participatory Capacity and Vulnerability Assessment (PCVA); The Local Government Unit DRRM Planning and Budgeting Process; and Case Study Presentation on Mainstreaming LDRRM in the Local Development Plan.

The orientation and planning seminar was designed to prepare the Local DRRM Council for the crafting of their own DRRM plan.
