JAGNA – Literally speaking the Bureau of Fire Protection Jagna Central Fire Station kicked off fire prevention month with horn blowing for five minutes of all firefighting apparatus from 12 noon to 12:05 on March 1.

With the theme for this months celebration “Sunog at Sakuna Paghandaan, Kalikasan Ay Pangalagaan Nang Matamasa ang Pag-unlad ng Bayan” the BFP have lined up activities for the whole month of March.

From March 2 to March 31 television and radio exposures emphasizing the importance of fire safety will be expected from our fire officers to the different radio stations and cable television in Jagna. A fire awareness campaign constituting of distribution of information materials, lectures of fire prevention, inspection on all establishments, familiarization of respective areas of responsibility, testing of all fire hydrants, fire disaster control and emergency, evaluation plan, fire drill, monitoring of all hazard operations and fire truck visibility.

The BFP’s mascot Berong Bombero visits schools to conduct fire safety awareness campaign in all elementary schools.

An essay, drawing,  poster making contest was participated by BIT students and a Volunteer Fire Brigade Olympics participated by Poblacion Volunteer Fire Brigade was conducted on March 6 in Tagbilaran City.

A house to house fire safety inspection and fire safety education for single and two dwellings will be done which will include the topics on safety measures at home, fire escape plan, exit drill in the home (EDITH) and how to use fire extinguishers.

A three-day open house of all fire stations shall be carried out by inviting school children to visit and conduct lectures on use of truck and EMS vehicles and accessories, proper use/operations of fire extinguishers and what to do in case of fire. There will also be fire drills to be conducted as scheduled.

The BFP has also encouraged the barangay councils to invite them during the conduct of barangay assemblies so that they can give lectures to the community on fire safety and prevention tips.
