JAGNA – The Local Government Unit of Jagna thru the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (MDRRMC) on August 2, 2012 distributed cash assistance to the victims of the ipo ipo last July 27, 2012.
Victims coming from the 4 barangays of Can-upao, Bunga Mar, Cantagay and Ipil came to the Mayor’s Office to claim the LGU’s assistance.
The MDRRMC together with the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office (PSWDO), Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) and representatives of Cong. Arthur Yap jointly conducted validation and verification of affected families on July 30, 2012 by visiting the barangays to come up with the final list of affected families qualified for assistance.
The final list revealed that in Can-upao 2 houses were totally damaged meaning not livable after the disaster with 38 partially damaged houses (still livable); 1 totally damaged fishing boat and 7 partially damaged. In barangay Bunga Mar, there are 39 partially damaged houses and 10 boats partially damaged. In barangay Ipil, there is 1 partially damaged house and for barangay Cantagay, 2 houses partially damaged. To sum up there are 2 totally damaged houses; 80 partially damaged houses; 1 totally damaged fishing boat and 17 partially damaged.
The cash assistance was categorized in to two based on the extent of the damage, totally damaged and partially damaged. All victims were able to receive the cash assistance from the LGU.
Governor Edgar Chatto thru the PSWDO will also give their assistance based on the final listing of affected persons. Mayor Fortunato R. Abrenilla ordered to immediately give the assistance of the LGU ahead so that the affected families can make a start with the construction and or repair of their damaged property.
