FMR MOA for 33 barangays signed

JAGNA – Thirty-three Punong Barangays of Jagna signed a MOA with the DA-RFU 7 for the P100,000 farm to market road project each of the barangays will receive from the Department of Agriculture (DA) last July 13, 2012 in Barangay Alejawan this town.

The fund comes from the Department of Agriculture per request of Congressman Arthur Yap.

The P100,000 will be downloaded directly to the 33 barangays. The DAs role is to monitor the implementation of the project. The barangays are given free hand in the implementation – from bidding to the actual construction of the farm to market roads.

Engr. Noel Cahiles of the Department of Agriculture explained that the fund will be downloaded in two tranches. Ninety percent will be downloaded for the first tranche and the remaining 10% will be downloaded once the 90% is liquidated. Engr. Cahiles reiterated that the barangays shall be responsible for the proper liquidation of the fund.

Mayor Fortunato R. Abrenilla in his message thanked the DA and Congressman Arthur Yap for the farm to market road projects. All thirty-three barangays of Jagna were given the opportunity to implement this project. The mayor also encouraged the punong barangays to be conscientious in the implementation and make sure that liquidations are done properly. Mayor Abrenilla also thanked the APC and DA Region 7 for the projects.

Mayor Abrenilla further said that he is happy the funds are downloaded directly to the barangays because he said the barangays are most efficient in the implementation of farm to market road projects. He further said that when the barangays directly implement a project the value for money is directly evident.

The farm to market road project aims at accelerating agricultural production development.
