Mr. Forrest Malakoff is back in Jagna for his 26th trip bringing with him his regular team of doctors and nurses to comprise the Philos Health team from the US. Mr. Malakoff’s wife Ms. Annie Lin Malakoff is also part of the team.
Philos Health has been a partner of the Local Government Unit of Jagna for years now and has been conducting quarterly medical missions to the different barangays of the town. Philos Health is also responsible for the free medicines, the Manna Pack for supplemental feeding of school children as well as instrumental in the establishment of the Jagna Community Radio DYJP providing the equipment as well as training for the radio staff.
Mr. John Kent, benefactor of our community radio, DYJP and its equipment, is part of the Philos Team visiting the town at this time bringing with him the new 500 watts transmitter as replacement to the old one. DYJP is expected to reach a wider audience with its new transmitter.
There are four barangays to benefit of the quarterly medical missions. This time the barangays of Odiong, Can-uba, Cabungaan and Laca were visited by the combined team of Philos Health with Dr. David Kim, nurses Fe Alarcon, Evelyn Lopez and Cora Nieto whose husband Mr. Roland Nieto is also a volunteer and the local team with MHO Dr. Arnold Cagulada, Dr. Emilio Raymund Claudio of RHU 2 based in Mayana, Dr. Acindino Tan, nurses as well as support staff. The medical mission is from February 13-16. They conduct free medical check ups to the barangays.
Ms. Malou Tan Jumawan is coordinating the activity on the part of the LGU. The barangay councils are mobilizing their Barangay Nutrition Scholars and Barangay Health Workers to assist in the mission.
The town of Jagna has greatly benefited with its partnership with Philos Health not only in the aspect of health but in a variety of ways.
