Gifts given to special people in Jagna town

The Local Government of Jagna thru the Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office celebrated on July 21 the 33rd National Disability Prevention and Rehabilitation Week at the Jagna Gymnasium.

Attended by Persons with Disability (PWDs) from the municipality led by Howard Sedavia, the municipal PWD president, their families and LGU Jagna employees, the celebration proved to be the bearer of a blessing for the organization.

John Paul Nistal a representative from DOLE was the bearer of the blessing for the Jagna PWDs. He delivered a grant from the Department of Labor and Employment amounting to 49,200 pesos to be used for entrepreneurial trainings for PWDs.

Sedavia accepted the grant on behalf of the PWDs and said that the money will be used in trainings as well as seed money for a t-shirt printing business for the Jagna PWDs. He said that the grant will not go to waste as they will ensure to maximize its use.

Mayor Fortunato R. Abrenilla thanked the DOLE and challenged the PWDs to this new opportunity to venture into entrepreneurial activity that will eventually provide them income and means to a productive livelihood.

Mateo Quillas, president of Bohol Provincial PWD Association and Regional Governor – KAMPI encouraged the PWDs to use the grant wisely.

Another good news came from Regional Director Ma. Evelyn B. Macapobre of the Department of Social Welfare and Developoment Field Office VII.

In a letter addressed to Mayor Fortunato R. Abrenilla, Ms. Macapobre informed the local chief executive that the payout to eighty-five senior citizen beneficiaries from Jagna of the Social Pension Project of the government is scheduled on July 27 to be held in the municipality.

The scheduled payout will cover the months of January, February, March, April, May and June 2011 in the amount of 500 pesos per month.

The DSWD Region VII chief is reminding the senior citizen beneficiaries to bring the basic supporting documents during the payout.

These gifts truly prove that blessings come in heaps.
