High angle rescue training for BFP, JEMRU personnel (June 2011)

The Jagna Emergency Medical Rescue Unit (JEMRU) and the Bureau of fire Protection in Jagna became the recipient of a 3-day training and capability building held on June 15-17 in the municipality.

Implemented by the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (MDRRMC), the training was designed to teach the JEMRU and BFP personnel the fundamentals of high angle rescue techniques. The participants were taught the basic rope rescue techniques such as ropemanship, advanced knot tying, hauling system, descending/rappelling techniques, tyrolean traverse, single rope techniques.

The training is an experience to give the JEMRU, as the first responders, working knowledge on high angle rescue. The knowledge and skills learned in this course may be applied to roadside situations and difficult terrain conditions.

The BFP personnel benefits from this additional skill in the conduct of their responses to different situations.

The participants of the 3-day training from the BFP were: Insp. Raul Bustalino, FO2 Rico Tadena. FO1 Arthur Lee Maluenda, SF01 Lorenzo Aceron, FO1 William Mangana, SFO1 Pablo Alaba and FO2 Romeo Galolo. Francis Ranin, Gilbert Daniel, Allan Estoque, Romeo Abangin, Magno Bergantin, Melecio Sajonia, Adonis John Cagas and Artemio Cadelina come from the JEMRU. Municipal Councilor Rodrigo Lloren participated in the training.

Practical exercises during the training were conducted at the Jagna Gym and at the atrium of the new Jagna Public Market.

Newly purchased equipment by the LGU thru the MDRRMC on high angle rescue were used during the training.

The training was facilitated by the Telephone  and Radio System Integrated Emergency Response (T.a.R.S.I.E.R.).

Jagna Mayor Fortunato Abrenilla ensures that thru the MDRRMC the JEMRUs will be capacitated in all types of rescue situations to be able to respond properly and effectively. “Pro – activity is the approach in the field of emergency rescue”, said the local chief executive.
