The Local Government Unit of the municipality headed by Mayor Fortunato R. Abrenilla joined in the celebration of Arbor Day on June 25 and launching of July as Disaster Consciousness month thru a tree growing activity.

The activity spearheaded by the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council (MDRRMC) in coordination with the Municipal Agriculture Office conceptualized an activity that is helpful to the environment, beneficial to the people and sustainable.

The tree growing activity was participated by all regular and job order employees of the LGU as well as national agencies: Philippine National Police, Bureau of Fire Protection, Bureau of Internal Revenue, 10th Municipal Circuit Trial Court, COMELEC, DILG, Teodoro B. Galagar District Hospital, Department of Agrarian Reform.

The activity activity started with a short briefing on the proper handling and planting of the seedling held at the Jagna Municipal grounds. Then off the tree growers went hiking to barangay Pangdan, the site of the activity.

The site was on top of a steep hill. But the steepness did not deter the tree growers. Determination won as the group arrived at the site and with gusto planted each of their seedlings. There were five species pre planted in plastic bags coming from the Municipal Agriculture Office. After planting, each of the tree growers named their trees. This is to ensure that the owner of the tree will come back and tend their tree after some time.

The activity aimed at mitigating the effects of climate change fostered unity and cooperation from among the LGU employees.
