JAGNA joins in the observance of Children’s Month celebration

Spearheaded by the Munucipal Social Welfare and Development Office, Day Care pupils and pre schoolers from all over Jagna joined in the observance of the national celebration of Children’s Month last October 18 held at the Jagna Gymnasium.

The day started with a parade around metro Jagna. A program followed centering on the theme “Local Council for the Protection of Children Para sa Bright Child: Pakilusin, Palakasin, Pagtulungan Natin”. The theme is specifically formulated to emphasize on strengthening the local councils for the protection of children (LCPCs).

Mrs. Delfina Ola-a was the guest speaker. Her message emphasized the importance of day care and pre-school education in the development of the child socially, intellectually. She said that nowhere in the curriculum of higher education that one can find teaching on the basic skills for survival in life. The most basic routine as well as the introduction of moral principles comes from this stage of the child’s development. Protection, support from parents, teachers, the government and other sectors is very important in the holistic development of the child.  

The whole day affair was celebrated with fanfare. Singing and draw and tell contests were held. The children showed off their talents.

The Local Government Unit of Jagna with the Municipal Council for the Protection of Children takes as its responsibility the creation of a child-friendly town. It meets regularly to discuss issues and rising concerns of children. 

The Sangguniang Bayan has formulated laws that protect the rights of Jagnaanon children.

The Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office headed by Ms. Marcionila Reyes is the office tasked to handle and promote the protection and development of children. It is implementing activities that promote and enhance the holistic development of children.
