Jagna oriented on Kasambahay Law, updated plans

Even when the town is now busily preparing for the annually – held foundation day and town fiesta, real work for good governance cannot be set aside. Three major activities were conducted within the week from September 2 until September 6 at the Capt. Goyo Hall, this municipality.

Director Wilson Cenas, provincial director of the Department of Labor and Employment on September 4 gave the orientation of the Kasambahay Law to the punong barangays and selected barangay councilors from the 33 barangays of the town. PD Cenas zeroed in on the salient points of the law. He introduced the registration form to be filled up by the kasambahay, showed the contract of employment between the employer and kasambahay, the payslip was explained and the certificate of employment the employer shall issue the kasambahay. An open forum was held to clarify issues.

On the same day September 4, the Municipal Gender and Development Council (MGADC) convened to update the MGADC plan and budget for the year 2014. As part of the Annual Investment Plan 2014, the MGADC has to prioritize programs for the next year. A workshop was conducted facilitated by MLGOO Judy Grace R. Dominguez and Engr. Gerry Araneta. Members of the MGADC worked overtime for the plan to be finalized.

On September 6, the Jagna Eco-Tourism Conceptualizing Workshop was finally held. Participated by stakeholders and key LGU personnel, workshop 1 aimed at identifying the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats of eco-tourism in the municipality. The second workshop was aimed at visioning for the next five years.

Ms. Ana Loinda C. Saluan, acting Municipal Planning and Development Coordinator and Tourism Officer of Danao, Bohol was invited to talk on the “Danao Experience”. Danao is one town that has successfully implemented an eco-tourism adventure park and Jagna in its planning-to-plan stage in the development of its eco-tourism needs the input of Ms. Saluan from the conceptualization up to the implementation of their adventure park.

This whole-day workshop was considered the take off activity towards the development of the eco-tourism industry of the town.
