Fiesta is a tradition Filipinos have been celebrating annually. Some even celebrate fiesta several times each year in honor of different saints.
The local government unit in collaboration with the St. Michael the Archangel Parish Church has been conducting meetings and planning for its celebration this year to be held on September 28-29.
The Local Council for Culture and the Arts (LCCA) have come up with major activities. The nightly activities are being sponsored by different agencies, businesses and institutions. September 20 will be sponsored by the national, provincial and the local government unit. September 21 will be sponsored by Central Visayan Institute Foundation while September 22 will be sponsored by Colegio dela Medalla Milagrosa. The entertainment for September 23 will be sponsored by the Alturas Group of Companies to be followed by Sun Cellular on September 24. The Bohol Institute of Technology – IC will showcase their talents on the night of September 25. Fighter Wine sponsors September 26 while the DepEd will dance the night away on September 27. Du Ek Sam, Inc. sponsors the entertainment on vesper night, September 28 and on September 29 there will be a grand disco.
St. Michael the Archangel is taking charge of the novena masses every 4 in the afternoon from September 20 up to September 28 and the procession will be held on the 28th. The Jagna Parish Pastoral Council (JPPC) will take charge of the Sakay-sakay (fluvial parade) in the morning of September 28.
This year, instead of the 3-day agro-fair participated by the barangays, the LCCA decided to hold a trade fair inviting concessionaires from out of Jagna to display their goods and products. The LCCA is also inviting LGUs to introduce the one-town-one product (OTOP) wherein the products of their towns will be displayed in the fair. The trade fair will start open on September 26 and will close on September 20. The LCCA is hoping that the fair will add to the festive mood of the occasion.
The main event awaited by Jagnaanons and visitors on the feast day, September 29, is the staging of the Sinoog Estokada spearheaded by the LGU and the Parish Youth Ministry. The street dancing and the final showdown this year will be participated by five different schools. It is the highlight each fiesta celebration as spectators are going to witness different interpretations of the Sinoog, the fight between the evil Lucifer and the heavenly angel St. Michael, the patron saint.
The theme for this year’s Jagna Foundation Day and Fiesta is Kalambuan Diha Sa Kahiusahan.
