JAGNA – Lions are known to be fierce animals and are therefore feared by other animals and humans as well. But the Lions that visited the town of Jagna on August 29 were anything but fierce and fearful. They are Lions with truly big hearts.
The Tagbilaran City Host Lion’s Club, Bohol Island Lion’s Club, Dagohoy Lion’s Club, Chocolate Hills Lion’s Club and Talibon CPG Lion’s Club are Lions that embody the greatness and the leadership of a lion in the forest. Added to it is its concern to fellow human beings who were affected by calamities.
The Lions distributed their assistance consisting of a half sack of rice as well as 2 bags of groceries to the victims of the July 27 whirlwind in the barangays of Can-upao, Bunga Mar, Ipil and Cantagay. The distribution was held at the Jagna Gym.
A total of 104 victim-recipients were very appreciative of the additional assistance claiming that it will greatly help them stand up again after the calamity. They do not have to think for some time of where they will get their daily need on food but will concentrate more on repairing their damaged houses as well as source of income (damaged bancas).
Mayor Fortunato R. Abrenilla expressed his sincere thanks to the assistance given to the victims by the Lions led by Governor Manolo Lao of District 301 B.
The Local Government Unit of Jagna is grateful to the Lions Club International for taking the time to come to Jagna to give assistance to the victims.
