JAGNA – The Bohol Tripartite Industrial Peace Council (TIPC) and the Department of Labor & Employment conducted a Labor Education Seminar last November 22, 2012 at the Domene Kaw PEnsion House, Pangdan. Business establishments in Jagna were invited to listen to updates about labor laws and other business concerns.
Resource speakers came from Tagbilaran to discuss the following relevant topics: TIPC Legal Basis & VGMO; Barangay Micro-Business Enterprises (BaMBE) Law; General Labor Standard Laws; Single Entry Approach; Social Security System; Employee Compensation Program; PHILHEALTH; Pag-ibig Fund; Basic Frameworks in Personnel Management; Different Waste in the Workplace.
The pool of speakers for the activity were DAR Prov’l Director Dr. Antonio Del Socorro; DTI Prov’l. Director Ms. Ma. Elena Arbon; DOLE Bohol Labor Relations Program Officer Mr. German Guidaben; SSS Bohol Manager Mr. Marino Talictic; ECC Regional Extension Unit Focal Person Ms. Ingrid Yumang; PhilHealth Provincial Head Md. Monaliza De Vera; HDMF Provicial Head Mr. Teofredo Garcia; and TIPC Education and Welfare Committee’s Dr. Regina Kibir.
Mr. Wilson Cenas, DOLE provincial manager welcomed the participants to the day’s activity.
The highlight of the activity came during the closing ceremonies when the DOLE released cheques to fisherfolk and women’s organizations in the barangays affected by the ipo-ipo in July 2012. This is part of DOLE’s Integrated Livelihood Program. The fisherfolk and women’s organization comes from barangays Ipil, Bunga Mar and Cantagay. These are the following: United Bunga Fisherfolk Association received Php218,330; Kaunlaran ng Kababayen-an ng Bunga Mar received Php 116,000; Ipil Fisherfolk Association received Php176,000; Ipil Women’s Association received Php 76,650; Cantagay Fisherfolk Association received Php 205,710; and Cantagay Women’s Association received Php63,800.
Representing Governor Edgar Chatto to release the cheques was Mr. Billy Tongco with Mr. Wilson Cenas, Mr. John Paul Nistal, Mr. Gerry Guidaben and DOLE staff.
Mayor Fortunato R. Abrenilla together with the barangay captains of Ipil, Bunga Mar and Cantagay and the respective presidents and treasurers of each organization/association.
Mayor Fortunato R. Abrenilla thanked Governor Edgar Chatto and the DOLE on behalf of the recipients. He said that the livelihood assistance will surely benefit the organization/association. He also challenged the recipients to ensure that the assistance will be sustainable.
