The Local Government Unit of Jagna launched Manna Feeding last March 25, 2011 at the Jagna Gym.
Manna feeding is a program of the Philos Health, a US-based NGO, in partnership with the Local Government Unit of Jagna. It is spearheaded by the Municipal Nutrition Council, Municipal Health Office and Rural Health Units, Barangay Nutrition Scholar, Barangay Health Worker and the Barangay officials.
The implementing period of the project will be from March 25 to June 25, 2011 and the target beneficiaries are pre-school children, 0-5 years old. The pilot barangays are Canjulao, Can-upao, Alejawan, Larapan, Faraon, Cabungaan, Boctol, Tubod Monte, Mayana, Calabacita and Balili. The pilot barangays will be monitored for two weeks. After the two-week implementation to the pilot barangays, feeding will be brought to the remaining 22 barangays of Jagna.
The five-day weekly feeding program will last for three months. Feeding will be done at the Barangay Health Center and Day Care Center. Preparation will be done by parents, BHW, BNS and the Committee on Health of the barangay.
Donated by the Philos Health, the Manna Pack is a rice fortified and soy protein meal package that contains a complete set of vitamins and minerals such as ascorbic acid, folic acid, riboflavin, vitamin B6, zinc oxide, vitamin B12 among others.
