JAGNA – The members of the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (MDRRMC), JEMRU, BFP, PNP, Barangay Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (BDRRMC), Bantay Dagat team and volunteers were trained to conduct cardiopulmonary resuscitation at the Capt. Goyo Hall, second floor of the municipal building last July 31. This is the last activity for the month of July in observance of the Disaster Consciousness Month with the theme “Ligtas na Bayan, Maunlad na Pamayanan”.
Trainers were Dr. Emilio Raymund Claudio of the local Rural Health Unit II, Mark Galia of TARSIER 117 and FO1 Aristotle Descallar of the BFP.
Lectures on Adult Basic Life Support were done in the morning and in the afternoon a lecture was conducted on water search and rescue (WASAR). A simulation was done to fully understand as well as carry out the actual conduct of the CPR. This is aimed at providing the trainers a feel of the actual scenario and the proper way of doing CPR.
This training came up after typhoon Sendong wreaked havoc in Cagayan de Oro City. The Municipal DRRMC realized that these types of trainings are needed in anticipation of any disaster to come. The local MDRRMC must be prepared in all types of rescue to avoid unnecessary loss of lives in times of calamities. The key players in search and rescue should be provided the capability to conduct the proper way of search and rescue to avoid harm on the part of the rescuers.
Actual WASAR exercise supposedly to be done in the seas of barangay Cantagay was postponed due to inclement weather and very rough seas.
