The Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council convened at 2:30 PM on January 31, 2014 in preparation for TS “BASYANG”. Mayor Fortunato R. Abrenilla ordered the 33 Barangay Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (BDRRM) Officers to keep watch all the rivers and creeks for possible overflowing with the onslaught of rain brought about by “BASYANG”.
The Local Chief Executive issued Executive Order No. 1 s 2014, “AN ORDER DECLARING THE SUSPENSION OF CLASSES IN JAGNA, BOHOL PUBLIC PRIVATE IN ALL LEVELS DUE TO TROPICAL STORM “BASYANG” ON FEBRUARY 1, 2014”.
Preparedness measures conducted on January 31 were “rekoreda” by the Jagna Emergency Medical Rescue Unit (JEMRU) in the coastal barangays and in mountainous barangays in danger of landslides; public awareness activities by the Communication and Warning Committee thru plugging in the three radio stations (DYJP, Radyo Natin, Radyo Jagna), text brigade, Facebook postings; activate search and rescue team, pre-emptive evacuation and transportation and security and safety.
The MDRRMC has identified evacuation centers in the higher parts of the town to prepare for any eventuality. The MDRRMC is closely monitoring “BASYANG” and is ready to activate the command center when the need arises.
