Nutrition monitoring goes to the barangays

The Municipal Nutrition Office geared up starting February 11 to conduct this year’s round of nutrition monitoring and evaluation of barangay nutrition scholars (BNS), barangay nutrition councils (BNC) garden, purok centers, day care workers (DCW) and DepEd gardens (Gulayan sa Paaralan). The monitoring and evaluation to the 33 barangays of Jagna will last until March 5, 2013.

The monitoring and evaluating team is composed of the municipal nutrition action officer (MNAO),  nutrition program coordinator, rural health unit staff, municipal social welfare and development office (MSWDO) staff, Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) personnel, police officer, sangguniang bayan staff and mayor’s office staff, high value commercial crop development program (HVCCDP) coordinator and stimulation and therapeutic activity center (STAC) personnel.

A set of standard criteria is being followed in the evaluation of the BNC gardens, purok centers and Gulayan sa Paaralan. An examination is being undertaken by the BNS aside from the examination and updating of records. The MSWDO personnel undertake the task of evaluating the DCW in the barangay taking into account records, physical arrangement and the resources inside the day care center which are available to the children. Feedbacking is done after the evaluation so the barangay councils may know which aspects of implementation may be improved.

The BFP personnel checks on the electrical wirings as well as fire hazards and gives feedback to the barangay council on his findings and the PNP checks on the peace and order situation in the barangays. The STAC personnel monitor 0-14 years old children who have disabilities to recommend for intervention.

The results of the round of monitoring and evaluation will be the municipal winners of the search for outstanding municipal BNS, BNC garden, purok center and gulayan sa paaralan.
