The Local Government Unit of Jagna sponsored a 3-day training on Katarungang Pambarangay Law on February 15-17, 2012 held at the Capt. Goyo Hall. The 33 barangays were divided into 3 batches with 11 barangays per batch. The training lasted only for a day.
There were 5 participants per barangay consisting of the punong barangay, barangay kagawad, barangay secretary and 2 lupon members. The purpose of the training is familiarization and enhancement of knowledge of the rules, principles and procedures guiding the Lupong Tagapamayapa of each barangay. The seminar topics facilitated by MLGOO Lito Dajalos were: the Legal, Philosophical and Organization Aspects (Nature, Purpose and Functions; Constitution of the Lupong Tagapamayapa, Selection, Qualification and Appointment, Character of Office & Service, Internal Organization and Operating Procedure of Lupon); Lupon Administration (Supervision of Pangkat Tagapagkasundo, Role of DILG, DOJ, Courts and other Agencies in Implementation of KP, Training of Lupon Members, System of Awards for Outstanding Lupon).
Assistant Provincial Prosecutor Margie T. Alvaro handled the topic on Jurisdiction and Venue which included Nature and Scope of the Authority of Lupon and Pangkat, Amicable Settlement and Exception to the Role of Compulsory Conciliation, Subpoena Powers of Punong Barangay and the Pangkat, The Role of Personal Appearance of Parties and Indirect Contempt. Atty. Alvarado discussed Cases Cognizable of the KP Law.
Ms. Regina Gina Gatal Bastes, administrative officer of DILG Provincial Office tackled Procedures in Dispute Settlement/KP Forms.
The training was organized by the LGU, Liga ng mga Barangay and the DILG.
