2 awards and more projects for Jagna

The year started with two blasts for the town of Jagna. Two awards were received by the municipality from the provincial government of Bohol last February 7, 2013. These awards were received by Mayor Fortunato R. Abrenilla on two separate awarding ceremonies in held in Tagbilaran City.

Jagna is now a two-time Most Outstanding Municipal Nutrition Council in the province. Its first award was received in 2011 and for the next year 2012, has maintained its status of being on the top. For 2012, the Municipal Nutrition Council (MNC) of Jagna garnered a total of 101.62 rating.

The MNC has not ceased its efforts in educating the populace as well as providing the necessary interventions to reduce malnutrition in the whole town among children. It has continuously implemented the national government’s programs nutrition.

With partner non government organization Philos Health, Jagna has attained a significant decrease in malnutrition among school children by providing supplemental feedings to schools with its Manna Pack. Manna Pack is a nutritious food supplement that is given for free to schools for feeding to school children.

The 2012 Outstanding Municipal Nutrition Council award comes with a cash prize of Php 10,000 and another Php 100,000 worth of projects. This is another sure way to be able to continue with efforts on existing project implementation as well as finding other innovative ways in fast tracking the attainment of the objectives of the council.

The municipality received another prestigious award from the province. It has garnered the top most place in the province’s Search for 2011 Best Practices in Ecological Solid Waste Management (ESWM). The award comes with a Php 30,000 cash prize and Php 200,000 worth of projects. The town was second place in the search for 2010 best practices in ESWM.

The cash prize and Php 200,000 will go a long way in helping with the projects of the Integrated Solid Waste Management of Jagna.
